Redecorating

There's redecorating going on at home as well as at the blog. I was tired of the pink blog. Red is my current favorite so I decided on this theme. There are good and bad points about this template. The good first -
1. Check out the sidebar. It is AJAX enabled. Cool!
2. I made all the images. Supercool!

Bad-
1. This uses the classic blogger hence no easy adding of page elements. Meh. It's ok I don't mind editing the html.

I need to figure out the sign in strip at the top. This template was missing that. I've spent entire day on the images. I'm ok with the way they are. Not thrilled, but ok.

Blog Musings

It's all her fault :) She asked me to look over her new blog before the debut. I had been contemplating a blog re-do for my best friend Sene but just didn't hadn't sat down to do it. Well, after looking over Erin's Awesome Blog, I started searching for a new template for Sene. Have you looked recently? OMG! There are so many cool new templates for Blogger available now that weren't when I last looked. I just finished Sene's blog update - take a look at the result if you would like. She asked for pink and she sure got it LOL! Hope you like it, Sene!

And I have also started a new Food blog - Ginger and Garlic Blog. Why Ginger and Garlic? Because I don't know how to cook without them LOL. It's going to be my daily kitchen diary. Hope I will be able to keep up with the 2 blogs. I like the simple template for that. The template is in Spanish (which I don't know at all). Regardless of the strangers sometimes trying to talk to *me* in Spanish. So I can't customize it much. The Search feature is really cool, though.

I want to thank my readers and those who comment. It brightens up my day to get a comment, and I don't say thanks always so I wanted to take a moment. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Pink explosion :)

Since I was home on a working day i.e. sans_DH_And_DS, I had to keep myself busy. So I managed to do 2 loads of laundry, fold 2 (older) loads, clean the master bath, load dishwasher, and attempted to straighten up playroom. I did take a nap as well. Did 2 layouts and went for a walk in the evening.

I wanted the blog to appear clean and fresh after the dark theme I had going since March. I believe this is the longest I've gone without making changes. I do like the pink (though I already think there is too much of it). It is reminding me of Umbridge LOL. As long as there's no lace, we're good!

Quick post

I'm sorry about the header issue. I'm working on fixing it. It seems very attached to that spot in the template and won't move forward. Arghhh.

BTW, How do you like the new title? I rather like this one, so this should be it for a while.

Do you notice any changes around here?

Do you? Do you? I have been butting my head with this Beta version of Blogger for the last 3 hours. I think it looks pretty decent now. I decided to update the blog to beta since I love the Label feature. I get to label my posts with one or more label. That's the major change you'll notice as a blog reader.

A neat thing for me is that this Beta version allows me to drag and drop sidebar elements (see the lists, dropdowns, etc. on the sidebar) I had made a lot of customizations to the original boring template. For instance, I had added the left sidebar. Also, I had added dropdowns, changed the fonts, colors, etc. Added the Header image. With this new version, you can't use your old, customized template anymore** You have to start from scratch. Poo.

So, I had to code it again. It involves HTML/CSS/XML. This version is supposed to help those that are not experienced coders, but want to make changes to fonts, colors, add linked lists, drop downs etc. You do not need to know much CSS/HTML for doing that. But, for doing major changes like adding a new sidebar (like I have done here), you do need it. But, overall, I think people will be happier with this one. The drag and drop feature is pretty nifty. And, ofcourse, the labels are cool.

There are more features here, like each post can have different setting for comments -- to allow comments or not, allow backlinks or not, etc.

I still have to fix my fonts and colors here, but I'm happy that the structure of this template looks very similar to my old customized template.

**Edited to clarify - You can still use the old template with the new Beta version, but if you want to upgrade your *Template* (which you would have to, to use the drag and drop, fonts & colors feautres), you have to redo your template from scratch. Upgrading will reset your template. Take your backups!

Updates

Made a couple of changes to the blog. Changed the header image as I got bored of it, and I didn't love the alpha as much anymore. I have wanted to change it for some time, and Whizgidget's entry last week reminded me of it. I had initially thought of keeping this blog limited to DigiScrapping, but I do like talking about life in general, and will also include stitching as it becomes a integral part of my routine again. I had trouble coming up with an interesting title that fit what I was trying to say. I think I like this one.

Also changed the template a bit to make use of the full screen. So it gives me more space to display pictures. The screen layout still is a little bit off but better than before.

I have also added links to two good tutorial sites, specifically geared towards Digital Scrapbooking.

Now for the fun. Here is a LO I did on Thursday.

Left and Right Sidebars

I've added some links to the right sidebar. I'll continue adding new ones, so check back often.

Also, on the left sidebar, I've added a place to put my latest layouts. The links would take you to my gallery at Scrapartist.

I use a free image hosting site so the bandwidth is limited. If you do not see any images, it's probably because I've gone over the bandwidth quota. Please be patient while I work out some better arrangement.

I'll put a downloadable pdf format tutorial in place of the current one. Would be easier to print.
