Back from the doctors

It's more likely to be a stomach virus and it can take up to 2 weeks to completely go away. It's probably the milk that's upsetting his tummy so much. Milk proteins are difficult to digest when you have a virus apparantly. We've switched him to Soy Milk (recommended by the doctor), and thank goodness he likes the taste. He's really resisting food now. He had a banana right after coming back home, wouldn't eat anything for dinner. Had Apple Juice and Soy Milk. He's sleeping now...

I'm overwhelmed reading this article Indian Americans and the Killer Belly. I was dead shocked when I learned I had Gestational Diabetes with Mehul. I'm not thin or fat, somewhere in the middle. The article says that on an average, Indians get Diabetes and Heart Disease even when they are 30 pounds lighter and 10 years younger than their American counterparts. I never saw it written down before, but it's no surprise. A good friend of mine was diagnosed with Diabetes 8 months after she gave birth to her daughter (she also had GD). Granted, she's more than 30 pounds overweight but she is my age! Another friend has been diagnosed with High Cholesterol, and he is NOT overweight and much younger than DH. He looks thinner than DH. Yet another friend is pre-diabetic.
I am making changes and hoping DH will too. And that was way before I read this article. We'd even decided on getting a Treadmill for home. Guess now is as good a time as ever.
If you're an Indian living overseas, please read the entire article! End of PSA :-)

It is *so* good, you have to watch it!

That is what I was told repeatedly by friends. To watch Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

This isn't going to make much sense to those who aren't Hindi movie watchers, but I have a lot to vent, to say the least. So, on Thursday, DH rented and brought home the DVD of "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" (LRMB). It is the second in the sequel "Munna Bhai M.B.B.S." (MBMBBS). Both are comedies with a good message. I thought I had seen this movie, but when I started watching the second one, I realized I never completed watching the first one! And here's why. I can not stand the main actor, Sanjay Dutt. Now, it's not just that I don't like the way he looks or talks, I have been able to watch movies with actors I don't like. This is way more than that. This is hatred. Yes, I know it's a strong word. But believe me, when I see this man, I see a terrorist in him. Yes. He is a terrorist, and has finally been convicted of being an "Accomplice" of Terrorists in the 1993 bomb blasts in Bombay, a series of 15 bombs, which killed about 300 people. That is what I see in the man. (Sidebar: You can do a search on the topic and find many links. I just don't feel like doing it because it would spoil my whole day.) That is why I could never watch the first movie, and the second too. DH watched it and found the movie was okay. I so wish he wasn't in the movie because I really wanted to watch it.

The icing on the cake is that in the second movie LRMB, the message is that of Patriotism and Non-violance. I'm sorry, what? Another topping on the cake, both the movies were Bollywood Blockbusters. The Indian public, while whining about a high profile actor/terrorist running lose while innocents are put in jail, kept watching the movies and putting money in the producers pockets who employ such people. I can't stand this sort of double standard. DH says it's because the Indians have accepted the way things are, and that nothing will change from their whining. I refuse to believe that. I believe the change will come but we first have to do our part. Stop watching that movie. Stop supporting these people who think they can buy their way out of anything. Wanna bet he'll get out of any jail time at all?

And this is where I feel like venting about Salman Khan. Another Bollywood actor who killed 4 homeless people sleeping on the roadside, while driving drunk at night. And got out with a slap on the wrist. I think I'll save that for another day.

Please, I don't want anyone to think that Bollywood Industry if full of such instances, it's not! It's just the one or two bad apples that spoil everything. For me, anyway.

Back to your regular blog-hopping. Hope you have a nice day.
